People need to realise that it takes bodies on the ground to introduce football into hurling only clubs. There are "football" men in Dunloy who interested in the sport and are prepared to coach teams. Do these individuals exist in hurling only areas? I would doubt it. Just the way it is.

Why dont all the clubs get together and make a joint gaelic team, the dilution in the hurling is aparrent, clubs situated within walking distance of each other, what about "Moyle gaels gfc" or "Glen Rangers"
the addition of two or three gaelic clubs, whom could make use of various pitches for training can only benefit the area, plus, the removal of common names will make the prospect for current senior hurlers to have a go at being a dual player, and eliminates the need for players to change lubs to play gaelic at senior level.
amalgamate and mabye some day we can see a strong football team from the glens pushing for a provincial title someday!

Bring a proposal to the club or contact a member of the North Antrim Board.

In reply to Gaelic Lover I think most people would like to see more North Antrim clubs play football but for many clubs like my own there are not the numbers to do so. The vast majority of children how would play would also be playing hurling and no matter what you say this would have a adverse effect on hurling

Has the promotion of Gaelic football ever been seriously discussed/ considered by the North Committee/ Executive? I too think it would be beneficial to give young ones the opportunity to play a different game requiring different skills etc but under the National umbrella of what our GAA is all about. It is great to see CPC Ballycastle affording North Antrim lads the chance to play Gaelic Football. Mickey

There are three at the minute(correct me if I am wrong), Ballycastle, Dunloy and Glenravel all fall under north antrim boards control. There is no reason the likes of Cusendall, The shamrocks and Cusendun couldn't field teams, at the end of the day the talent is there, this has been proven by the recent sucess by CPC getting to the quarter and semi final on two occasions in the last two years, its definate theres an interest in the youth, our county could definaty get better with more teams competing.

If you feel so strongly about it then put a proposal forward through your Nth Antrim Rep and it will be debated at the next meeting.

I would love to see u16 and under leauges for gaelic football in north antrim. I think the north antrim board should promote it like the Ulster board promoted hurling in counties such as Monaghan. Teams like Cusendall and Cusendun could join, even if it was done a blitz format, just to promote it?? Anyone else agree??

We Can't promote a league when there are no teams to take part in it.

was just wondering if the rumour that ??????????has stopped hurling for loughguile is true. if so this will be an extremely big loss for their forwards as was also seen at the minor 7s where he didn't attend
