NA Féile Skills Competition 2015
20th May 2015

The North Antrim Féile Skills was ran last night in Loughgiel Shamrocks.  This was defiantly one of the biggest turnouts in a few years with over 17 players from clubs throughout North Antrim taking part and competing for their chance to represent North Antrim at the upcoming County Féile Skills Competition.

This competition really does give players a chance to test themselves under pressure to do it right and their Hurling skill level, showing them where they are, and where improvements are needed.  The players present where put through the 6 different skills namely Ground Striking, Free Taking, Jab Lift and Strike, Ground Cut, Ball Control and Long Puck over a 1hr period at a very slickly run Féile Skills Competition making it very enjoyable for all present and taking part.

1st place went to Ryan Hill from McQuillans Ballycastle
2nd place went to Caolan O’Connor from Oisin’s Glenariffe
3rd place went to Oliver Kearney from Oisin’s Glenariffe

The top 2 go through so Ryan Hill and Caolan O’Connor will now represent North Antrim at the upcoming County Féile Skills Competition and we wish them both all the very best and as much support as possible on the day.  At present the date, time and venue is still to be confirmed.

Other participants on the day where Michael McGarry (Loughgiel), Ronan McAteer (Cushendall), John McAlister (Cushendall), Conlith McKinley (Carey), Conor Waterson (Armoy), Ciaran McQuillan (Dunloy), Declan McCloskey (Loughgiel), Conal McGlynn (Carey), Seamus McAuley (Ballycastle), Euan McSparran (Cushendun), Declan McAuley (Glenravel), Jack Murphy (Cushendun), Barry Scott   (Dunloy) and Sean McKay (Glenravel).  Well done to all these lads for taking part and we will hopefully see some of them again next year!

As you all know competitions like this don’t run by themselves.  Loughgiel Shamrocks are to be thanked for the use of their facilities, we thank the clubs and players who participated, the mentors present who offered their assistance at a drop of a hat at the various skill stations, the North Antrim representatives on hand helping out and organising the competition, TeamKit Ballymena for sponsoring the trophy and providing Hurling Balls for the competition which were then passed on to every player taking part and to anyone who we have missed thank you all.
